Why Philippines?
this is a work in progress as there is always tomorrow to love the country more – please comment where you think i could polish this a bit more… would love suggestions from filipinos lang
haha, I get this question ALL THE TIME.
There are so many negative connotations attached to the Philippines.
WHY? Is it because you absorb everything on T.V.? You take it all for face value? Everything from Dateline NBC, some guy named Stone and Melting Face Barbara….?
Listen up, this is a reminder about the Philippines.
- There are more Filipinos in the U.S. than any other subsect of the Asian Ethnicity classification.

The Spanish-American War of 1898 was fought and won. The spoils of this war were, CUBA, THE PHILIPPINES, MARSHALL ISLAND, GUAM, PUERTO RICO, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
- Filipinos and American fought side-by-side in WWII against the Japanese. (in fact, i’m so lucky to have a living veteran right next door to me, 83 years old and can still drink a 6-pack!)
- Gen. Douglass MacArthur loved the Philippines so much he became the only active duty American Military General to become the leader of a Foreign Army while serving the U.S. (some call him a traitor.. but I can’t because I know why!)
- The City of Manila is huge and chaotic —- it makes me feel like Indiana Jones sometimes!!!!!
- Due to Spanish Occupation from ~1500-1898 and then English Speaking Occupation/Influence from 1898-Present, TAGALOG the official Filipino Language is heavily based on Spanish and English, along with other local Malay dialects.

After India, the Philippines has the largest English Speaking Population in all of Asia. (Much better english than Indians… More Relevant Conversation than Indians)
- Filipinos and Americans have a long-established brotherhood. Filipinos are extremely hospital to all American citizens visiting and/or residing here. Of course though, if you are an asshole, then they will be assholes also.
- The Climate is Awesome. I love the tropics
- The Women are beautiful and it seems they like Americans
